How to restrict access to the Control Panel

This tweak will restrict access to the control panel.

How To:-

Start>Run>Regedit>OK

Navigate to the following locations:-

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]

Create a new DWORD value, called 'NoControlPanel' set the value to :-
'1'=enable the restriction.
'0'=disable the restriction

System Restore Tab Missing

The Problem:-There was a virus infection in the system and to remove the virus,the system restore was disabled and the system was scanned throughly by an antivirus software.But since then the system restore tab is missing.

Resolution:-

Start>Run>regedit>OK

Now navigate to the following location:-

HKLM\Software\Policies\Microso­ft\Windows NT\SystemRestore

Click on 'SystemRestore' and in the right pane find entry "DisableSR", right click on it and delete it.

Close the registry editor and restart the system.

Vista#5381 Installtion

This is the latest build released by Microsoft.It supports upgradation (from Windows XP/XP MCE etc),porovided if there is the latest service pack installed.
I have clean installed it last night on my test machine.The installation time has been reduced.In my case it took just an hour to complete.

How Do I clear Google Toolbar Search History?

Click on Google logo on the toolbar and from the drop down menu Select the "Clear Search History" option.

If you want to completely disable your Toolbar's search history:-
Click the "Options" button on your Toolbar and un-check the box next to "Drop-down search history."

If it's version 4:-
During searching an item when your drop-down search history appears, simply click the "Clear History" link.

If you want to tweak through the registry:-

Start>Run>Regedit>OK

Now navigate to the following location:-
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Google\NavClient\1.1\History]

Select the History subkey and delete it.Close the registry editor and restart the system.

Clock Tweaking

In case of Vista,there is a nice clock present in the sidebar of the dektop.Right click on it and select Setting.You can change the clock's outlook to as many as eight different types,you can give or,change the name of the clock.Not only that you can also change the Time Zone and if you wish you can show a second hand to the clock.Isn't beautiful?

How to change opacity scale of a Gadget

In Vista,there is enough scope to change the opacity level of a gadget.

How To:-

Simply right click on a gadget present on the sidebar of Vista desktop and select Opacity.Yo can change it's scale to the following percents:-
20%,40%,60%,80% and 100%.

[It's a beta OS so things may change in the later or final version]

How can I add or remove a Gadget?

To add more gadgets on your desktop,right click on a blank area of the sidebar and click Add Gadgets...

Now from the gadget gallery you can choose:-

1]Calculator
2]Clock
3]CPU meter
4]Currency Convertersions
5]Feed viewer
6]Feed Watcher
7]Number Puzzle
8]Picture Puzzle
9]Recycle bin
10]Slide Show
11]Sticky Notes
12]Stocks,
13]Timer and
14]Weather.

Now right click on any selected item and select Add or Uninstall according to your need.

You can get more gadgets online.There is also an option to search Gadgets.

The Launcher gadget keeps all your favorite program shortcuts in one location.
The World Clock gadget keeps track of what time it is anywhere in the world.
Recycle Bin gadget:-Recycle the files you no longer want.
