Increase the number of folder view settings

Posted on 17:35 by Unknown
Introduction:-By default, Windows XP remembers each folder's view settings and customizations. This data is limited to 400 folders, but if you like to increase you can easily do that.

How to:-

Start>Run>Regedit>Ok

Now navigate to the following locations:-

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ShellNoRoam

Create a DWORD value named BagMRU Size in each of these registry keys, and set its value data to the number of folders that you want Windows to remember the settings for. For example, if you set the value to 5000, Windows can remember the settings for 5000 folders.

Windows Backup Utility Error

Posted on 20:55 by Unknown
The Problem:- When I try to select files for backup to my CD-RW drive, using the Windows BACKUP utility, I get the message "The backup file name could not be used. Please ensure it is a valid path, and that you have sufficient access".

Resolution:-This happens as Removable Storage Management does not recognize CD-R, CD-RW, or DVD-R devices as backup pool media.
To resolve this issue, perform the backup to some other media type, for example, to a tape or to a hard disk.

Otherwise you may use a third party software like Firestreamer-RM,
it's a backup software for Microsoft Windows, which allows you to use the Microsoft Backup Utility (NTBackup) and Microsoft SQL Server Backup (SQLBackup) to back up your data directly to a wide range of backup media, such as DVD, HDD, Iomega REV™, flash memory and so on. Firestreamer-RM supports data compression and encryption, media and drive spanning, Windows Automated System Recovery, easy backup scheduling, remote media drives and more.
Download Firestreamer-RM for a free 30-day trial.
