Information Bar

The Information Bar is displayed, when necessary, just below the Address Bar portion of the Internet Explorer.As it is golden in colour,so it is also known as golden bar.



Why does it appear?

1]It appears when the internet explorer blocks ActiveX controls or active content on a Web page.

2]If a Web site tries to download a file to your computer.



How Will You Use It?

click the message in the bar when it appears. You will have the option to allow the content on your computer or to view more information about the content being blocked.

It appears when a Web page tries to install an ActiveX control on your computer.

Resolution:

If the publisher is a trusted one then you can install.

By blocking the files and loading the Web page, Internet Explorer allows you to verify that the file is needed in order for the Web page to function properly.

Resolution:

If you feel that you need the blocked file,you can trust that file, then download.



Your security settings do not allow Web sites to use ActiveX controls installed on your computer. This page may not display correctly. Click here for options…

If an ActiveX control or script tries to run from a Web page and your Security settings are set high, you may receive this message.

Resolution:

If you are sure that it's from a trusted publisher you install it.If not sure then click the Information Bar and click What's the risk? for more information about ActiveX controls.

Controlling Information Bar:-

For pop-up windows:-

Tools > Pop-Up Blocker > Pop-Up Blocker Settings >

Uncheck: ‘Show Information Bar when pop-up is blocked’

For file downloads:-

Tools > Internet Options > Security > (zone) > Custom Level

‘Automatic prompting for file downloads’

enable (bar off)

disable (bar on)

For ActiveX controls:-

Tools > Internet Options > Security > (zone) > Custom Level

‘Automatic prompting for ActiveX installs’

enable (bar off)

disable (bar on)

For Active Content:

Tools > Internet Options > Advanced >

Check: ‘Allow active content to run in files on My Computer’

For CD-based HTML Content:

Tools > Internet Options > Advanced >

Check: ‘Allow active content from CDs to run on My Computer’
